Common Sense California announced last week that its first $5,000 Catalyst Grant would go to the Neighborhood Services Department of the City of Sacramento in support of their “Neighborhoods Summit 2008” event.
The citywide project is due to bring together over 300 residents of Sacramento from a variety of backgrounds – both public and private sector. The grant is the first awarded from Common Sense California’s $125,000 “Citizen Engagement Grant Program,” which is an effort to support municipalities, school districts and non-profits as they try to engage their respective residents in policy-making beyond the ballot box or standard town-hall meeting.
This is a really interesting program that rewards innovative ideas in city life. All applications are taken through the Common Sense California website, take a visit and see if your city should apply! www.commonsenseca.org
