In a video recording of an event put on by the Contra Costa Taxpayers Association, Vallejo Councilmember Stephanie Gomes and past City Manager Joe Tanner speak to the group about Vallejo’s bankruptcy, such as background information, the role of unions, and the future of the city. The event was entitled, “Municipal Bankruptcy: An Inside Look at Vallejo.” Gomes commented that Vallejo should serve as a cautionary tale and that the city had a perfect storm and that it cannot be denied that unions played a part in the city’s downward spiral.
